in three phases.
McLaren Health Care, in collaboration with the Clarkston Medical
Group, opened in May, 2009, Phase I of McLaren Health Care Village at Clarkston.
The key components of Phase I are the 135,000 sq. ft. Clarkston Medical
Building, the 42,000 sq. ft. Great Lakes Cancer Institute-Clarkston, and the
5-acre Garden of Healing and Renewal.
Located within the new Clarkston Medical Building is the Clarkston Medical
Group, a longstanding primary medicine group practice under the leadership of
Dr. James O’Neill and Dr. Tim O’Neill. Other services in that building include
an urgent care center, a pharmacy, laboratory services, an ambulatory surgery
center, home medical equipment store, a breast care center, bariatric center,
physical therapy, sports medicine and fitness center, sleep diagnostic clinic,
wound care clinic, and many other comprehensive specialty healthcare
services.
The Great Lakes
Cancer Institute-Clarkston will provide state-of-the-art radiation therapy, advanced medical
oncology, a retail center for patient needs, mobile PET/CT imaging, educational
programming and family support services.
The Garden of Healing and Renewal provides peaceful, soothing surroundings in
which to focus healing energies, talk privately and build strength. The garden
features an oasis of fountains and sculptures, sitting areas and beautiful paths
to encourage exercise and curative reflection. The lush, landscaped campus is
open for the community to use and enjoy.
The second phase of McLaren Health Care Village at Clarkston will include a state-of-the-art, comprehensive
cardiac center, three life science facilities, additional medical
office buildings, and 200-bed hospital.
The third phase will include a 100-bed addition to the hospital, as demonstrated by
need.
The McLaren Health Care Village brings together a top-rated health care
system with one of the premier physician groups of the Clarkston community.
McLaren Health Care hospitals, health plan and home health agencies regularly
earn recognition for excellence in patient and customer care from respected
national organizations and rating agencies. McLaren has also won recognition for
its superior heart care, neurosurgery, orthopedics and cancer care. McLaren’s
long-standing joint venture with Michigan State University also brings some of
the most cutting-edge cancer treatments in the nation to the Clarkston
community.
For more than 45 years, 10,000 families have trusted the Clarkston Medical
Group’s 15 board-certified physicians for their medical care. The Clarkston
Medical Group employs 15 board certified physicians in pediatrics, internal
medicine, family practice and emergency medicine. More than 120 nurses, medical
technicians, receptionists, billing, and management staff work together to
achieve one goal: providing the highest quality medical care to our patient.
The design concept for McLaren’s Health Care Village complements and
integrates with the architecture of Independence Township. All the buildings,
the design and materials used are environmentally friendly. A special effort
will be undertaken to obtain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) certification for the main hospital building.
It is estimated that this project will create about 3,000 new jobs. Every 15
new jobs results in $3 million dollars in economic impact to the area in the
form of wages, state and local taxes along with the multiplier effect of these
dollars moving through the local economy according to the Oakland County and
Federal Reserve Board and the Health Care Village will generate $600-$800
million in annual economic impact.
